Market Risk
It is the risk of losses due to fluctuations in economic and financial variables, such as interest and exchange rates, stock and commodity prices. Adequate disclosure of aspects related to market risk has assumed increasing importance in the financial system, due to factors such as global financial crises, the development of derivatives, business collapses resulting from deficiencies in risk management and capital requirements due to risks incurred by the institutions. The research verifies and analyzes the degree of disclosure, by financial institutions operating in Brazil, regarding issues related to market risk.
Liquidity Risk
It is set up in cases where the company does not have sufficient financial resources to honor its commitments due to mismatches between payments and receipts, considering the different currencies and settlement deadlines of its rights and obligations.
Operational Risk
According to Article 2 of CMN Resolution 3,380, it is the possibility of losses resulting from failure, deficiency or inadequacy of internal processes, people and systems or external events, including the legal risk associated with inadequacy or deficiency in contracts signed by the institution, as well as such as sanctions due to non-compliance with legal provisions and compensation for damages to third parties arising from the activities carried out by the institution.
